Letter to Dean Baron
23 June 2003
Reverend Geoffrey Baron
PO Box 146
East Melbourne 3002
Dear Father Baron,
Recently I phoned you and explained that I was instituted
as a lector by Archbishop Pell in 2000. I regularly attend Sunday
Mass at the cathedral and believe I should read there.
To assist with your decision I have enclosed extracts of the
following:
The Rites Volume Two (1991) Minnesota: Liturgical Press,
pages 98 - 107. The Motu Proprio Ministeria Quaedam and
ceremony for the institution of lectors.
Lectionary I (1983) Sydney: Collins Liturgical Australia,
page xxix. General Introduction to the Lectionary for Mass, n.
49 - 55.
Ceremonial of Bishops (1989) Minnesota: Liturgical
Press, pages 25, 218 - 219.
General Instruction of the Roman Missal (2003) Washington:
USCCB, pages 1 and 37. Downloaded from the internet, www.usccb.org/liturgy.
It is the approved translation of the 2002 Institutio Generalis
Missale Romanum for the United States of America.
As we discussed I will phone you in about two weeks about
this.
Yours sincerely,
JOHN LILBURNE
