For Mass at the Cathedral yesterday Archbishop Hart was back.
About the first six rows were filled with altar servers who were
here for a conference with the Guild of Saint Stephen. In hi
s homily, Archbishop Hart spoke about being an altar server himself.
Two of the altar servers, one male the other female, did the
first two readings wearing albs. It would have been better if
Andrew Keswick did them. He was instituted as a lector on the
same day as me, on 27 February 2000. Yesterday he was in the
sanctuary as an altar server, so with an instituted lector
being available he should have done the readings.
Here is a press release from the Guild of Saint Stephen website
about the conference:
The Guild of St Stephen for Altar Servers is holding its 16th

at St Patrick's Cathedral.
The Conference timetable will include prayer and Mass daily,
a talk or seminar discussion in the morning and free time and
