I have been watching Richmond lose to Brisbane in the football on TV. They were losing by about 50 points, got within 11, but then lost by about 30 points.

At the Cathedral this morning Archbishop Hart gave the sacrament of confirmation. The prayer of the bishop over those being confirmed includes:

Give them the spirit of wisdom and understanding,
the spirit of right judgment and courage,
the spirit of knowledge and reverence.
Fill them with the spirit of wonder and awe in your presence.

A part of the homily that struck me was about us having free will, which God respects, but the risk of "eternal separation from God". It fitted in well with the essay about "Augustine on evil" that I wrote last week. I think its an important idea, like Maximus says in Gladiator: "What we do in life ... echoes in eternity."

At 1745 I am going to Miranda's to meet people and see a movie.
