Encouraging altar servers
I am impressed by the article by Bishop Edwin M. Conway, which has appeared in "Cardinal George's Column" this week.
He discusses the ministry of instituted acolyte and various approaches for organising to have more Masses with altar servers. These include using older people and families. He is aware that this will require more work in organising people, but sees this as a worthwhile effort to improve the ceremonies.
Its also interesting to note Cardinal George's programme included: "July 29-August 1: Executive committee of the Episcopal Board of the International Commission for English in the Liturgy meeting, Ottawa, Canada." Its good to see that work is going on for the translations of the liturgical books.
