Good news or bad news?

There continue to be reports of problems in the Catholic Church, such as today's National Catholic Reporter and The Age.

Obviously there is bad news in them. But I think there are also encouraging signs. At least some issues are being reported and discussed.

As the Pope said to the US Cardinals on 23 April 2002: "So much pain, so much sorrow must lead to a holier priesthood, a holier episcopate, and a holier church."
