Encouraging signs in Australia

Some encouraging stories for improving liturgy in Australia.

The magazine AD2000 have published a good article "Why Priests Should Stick to Mass Texts" by Bishop Thomas Paprocki.

Also in the October 2004 edition Monsignor Peter Elliott wrote that he had "just prepared a new edition of my own guide to the ceremonies of the Post-Vatican II Rite". So a new edition of Ceremonies of the Modern Roman Rite can be expected soon.

Bishop Manning wrote: "The National Liturgical Commission met in Parramatta in September 2004 for its biannual meeting. Some discussion centred on the General Instruction of the Roman Missal, the publication of the Roman Missal and the proposed new Lectionary for English-speaking countries. Attention was given to ways of introducing changes related to these."

Archbishop Bathersby is reported to have taken action to stop baptisms with the words "Creator, Liberator and Sustainer" in Brisbane.
