Bishop Trautman Chairman of BCL

Bishop Trautman was elected chairman of the USA's Bishops Committee for the Liturgy in November 2004.

I have been researching on the internet. He clearly has considerable enthusiasm for liturgy. This is highlighted by him being the only bishop on the editorial board of www.webelieve.cc and his being awarded the 2003 Fredrick McManus award.

For me, the most objectional thing I have found, that he has said, is in the speech after receiving this award: "When we encounter people who harken back to rigidity in rubrics, we must say. “Do not quench the Spirit.”"

Concerns about his election are given in comments on Amy Welborn's blog.

But at least he is enthusiastic about the topic and the U.S. bishops seem to have made a deliberate decision in electing him.
